Bhavna Soman tought Introduction to Reverse Engineering Malware. We went over the basics of x86, IDA Pro and OllyDBG, and use that to analyze real world malware samples using a VM set-up beforehand. We learnt common techniques that malware authors use to evade detection and analysis. Finally, we challenged ourselves with mystery binaries to test our new RE skills.
The purpose of this course is threefold: (i) to identify the place for transversal approaches across different kinds of animals (animal for livestock production, working and companion animals, animals as model for experimentation, wild animals) , (ii) to highlight the value of interdisciplinarity when performing research on animals and, (iii) to investigate how scientific advances help us to redefine our relationship with animals.
